NIKON AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20MM – Test Shot Part 1

We’ve brought the Nikon AF-P DX Nikkor 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR lens for a test run and captured a few images. The lens works well outdoors during the bright sunny day. It also works nicely in a well lit indoor areas. We also tested it during the night in an area with limited lights. It does performed well but not too good. Like what we have said in our previous post, this lens is suitable for taking photos in a well lit areas. With that relatively small aperture, it is very predictable on what condition it works best.

All in all, this lens is pretty good. The auto focus is very fast and quiet. With the Vibration Reduction inside it, it works even better. Although it doesn’t perform well in low light condition, it still can produce a very good picture if you use tripod and play around with the camera settings.

For the price tag it carry, you can’t expect it to be an excellent lens for low light condition. You might have to fork out more money to buy the lens with a fixed aperture such as the f/2.8 for excellent low light photography. It will cost a bomb for an enthusiastic photographer like us.

This lens still worth every cents of its price. There are many other ways to use it apart from landscape photography. It can be an excellent lens for portraits and close up. It’s a good investment for those photographer who wants to break out of the typical 18-55mm lens. It also a good investment to learn about wide angle photography.

Most of the shots above are taken in 10mm focal length. This is the star of this lens because this is the widest it can get. All those shots are straight from the camera, no editing done except for adding watermark.

The quality of the photos are not bad. It can be better if you find the camera settings that suits your way of taking photo. Or maybe using a better camera. Give it a try if you want a budget lens for Ultra Wide Angle photography. This is the cheapest so far in the current market.

Our test shot part 2 will be coming soon with more outdoor photos focusing on landscape.
