Daisen Kuroushi Kyoshotei, Yonago, Tottori, Japan

We wrote about Daisen beef here and we mentioned that we had our experience having it at a restaurant called Daisen Kuroushi Kyoshotei in Yonago city. The specialty of this restaurant is Daisen beef. Almost all of their items in their menu have Daisen beef in it. They serve it in many ways, sushi, grilled, torched and raw.

Their signature item on the menu is the Daisen Kuroushi Wagyu course. It consist of 10 meals serve one after another. Started with torched Daisen beef sushi, Yaki-shabu and Yaki-suki as starters. After those three dishes, you’ll be given a piece of something like a “cactus” leave as palate cleanser. It is actually an edible succulent leave and it taste quite sour but a bit juicy.

Then come the main course, platter of 3 rare parts of Daisen beef, served with 6 assorted condiments. The three rare parts are Misuji (top blade), Kurimi (shoulder clod) and Ichibo (Culotte). It is serve raw with condiments such as sea salt, rock salt, hot soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, wasabi and grated hot daikon radish. You can eat it raw or barbecue them on the grilled provided on the table.

After that, three more dishes serve, the Red vegetable salad, griddle stir fried rice and Ox tail soup. This is basically to compliment the Daisen beef platters as some people prefer to have it with those dishes, especially the rice. We love the Ox tail soup, the flavor is so rich and intense. By this time, we are already full but we still have some desserts waiting to be served.

The course meals ends with homemade tiramisu and coffee as desserts. The tiramisu is so delicious, we even ask for extra, shamelessly. The 10-course meal cost 6800 Yen including tax. That’s about USD 61. If you prefer only certain meals from that set, you can order it a la carte as well.

The inside of the restaurant is decorated with bamboo which they believe are providing a sense of relaxing and calming ambiance while still maintaining the luxury feels of the dining area. It’s so beautiful and intriguing although, like most restaurant in Japan, the place is small but it doesn’t feels like so. This Daisen Kuroushi Kyoshotei is very well arranged and decorated.
